The more traditional styles slowly gave way to punk, new wave and ska. In addition to concerts by major new acts from home and abroad (The Cure, Doe Maar, TC Matic, Level 42), numerous new Leeuwarden bands also provided a vibrant music and nightlife scene.

Bands with illustrious names such as Mark Foggo and The Secret Meeting, Social Security, Suster Poppy, Pin-Baskets, (Op de) Koffieband and Kobus goes to Appelscha played in the national circuit and also performed very regularly in their hometown of Leeuwarden. And there were new venues for concerts such as Brouwershoeck, Ode and Silbermann, in addition to existing venues such as Zalen Schaaf and Theater aan het Water.

The core of the exhibition consists of photos by Harrie Muis, supplemented with mainly posters and small printed matter. Harrie Muis came from Enkhuizen to Leeuwarden in 1973 to study at teacher training. From the late 1970s, he photographed at concerts. From 1981 on, he also organized these himself, among other things as a board member of the De Ooievaar Foundation.

The exhibition ties in with the Rock-'n roll manifestation in Friesland and the exhibition of the same name in Obe and can be seen in the HCL (Groeneweg 1) from November 12, 2021 to April 15, 2022. Admission is free.
