Leeuwarden and Fryslân together formed Cultural Capital LF2018 in 2018. It was a journey that started ten years earlier, with a dream and a wish. An opportunity to work towards a future that can be proudly passed on to the generations to follow.
By means of art and culture, the city and province put their heads to the test in 2018. With 220 major events and some 800 'mienskips initiatives' (mienskip=community), the city and province got moving. More than 65,000 Frisians contributed to the Fryslân of the future. They dared to dream, to act and to be different. They were sinking their teeth into a new era.
