Oerol Terschelling

Every year for ten days the island of Terschelling changes into one big stage for Theater, Dance, Pop-up Performances, Talks, Visual Arts, Science, Research and (Live) Music during the Oerol Festival.

Oerol was founded in 1981 by Joop Mulder, who unexpectedly passed away in 2021. The landscape of Terschelling plays a major role in Oerol and forms the backdrop of the programming. With more than 55,000 visitors annually, it is one of the largest and best-known interdisciplinary location theater festivals in the world with plenty of room for experimentation, residencies, talent development and (inter)national partnerships.    Oerol 2022 will take place from June 10 to 19.
