The beach near the nature reserve het Zwanenwater near Callantsoog belongs to Natuurmonumenten and forms the habitat for all kinds of animals and plants. Led by our expedition leaders, you will go in search of what lives and washes ashore on the beach. After about 1.5 hours, you will be back.
With the tide, all sorts of things wash up on the beach. You will discover shells with names like razor clams, venus clams, wedge shells, Baltic tellins, and necklace shells. You will find out how they live. And perhaps you will even find a starfish.
Did you know that we can find egg cases of rays on the beach? And that birds not only find their food in the sea, but also in the debris on the beach? What are those white balls rolling across the beach, anyway? And which birds build a nest on the beach?
Walk along and discover the secrets of the beach and the sea together with our expedition leaders.
