Do you want to watch seals and shrimp fishing on the Wad? Sail along with the TX 10 Emmie or the TX 20 Walrus. Seasoned fishermen Herman and Frido take you on the Wadden Sea for a two-hour trip. They know everything about fishing and tell about the catch in their own (Texel) way.
The shrimp boats depart from the port of Oudeschild. Shortly after leaving the port, the nets are set out. Always a surprise what is caught. Because they are not just shrimp. Also starfishes, crabs, flatfish, pietmen. Sometimes there is even a sand shark in the nets.
On the deck the catch is put in bins and the skipper explains what has been caught. A real experience and very educational, for young and old.
Then, with the help of the children, everything is thrown overboard again. Except for the shrimps, they are put in the cooking pot on the spot.
The shrimps are cooked and you can peel them yourself. That is quite difficult. Fortunately the skipper is there to explain how. Then of course extensive tasting. Shrimp, straight from the Wadden Sea. You've probably never eaten them that fresh.
You may still see seals along the way.
