Lezing Vrijmetselaarsloge Willem Frederik Karel - Wouter Maas
Den Helder
On April 21, Wouter Maas will delve into symbolism, art and culture in the School 7 Library.
Take a look
On Tuesday 21 April, Wouter Maas will give a lecture in Library School 7. He will take you along on his quest for the hidden language of art. From light to numbers and building symbolism – every symbol tells a story. What did the artist mean by it? And does that change with time or culture?
Hidden layers and old stories
Symbols connect people to their history, beliefs and values. Wouter Maas shows how one symbol radiates power in one culture, but means the opposite in another. He also looks at how meanings have changed between the 16th century and the present.
Jubilee lecture in a long tradition
The lecture is part of the jubilee program of Lodge Willem Frederik Karel, which exists for 200 years in Den Helder. This evening is part of a series of lectures, each with a different angle. Every third Tuesday of the month you can expect a different speaker.
Practical and reservations
The lecture starts at 19:30 and lasts until approximately 22:00. Admission is €7.50, including coffee or tea. Reservations can be made via KopGroep Bibliotheken.
