If you spot a few people in Leeuwarden staring at a tiny ledge in a wall, chances are there are some Miniature People hidden there. What started as an artistic project has become one of the most enjoyable walking routes for families: the Miniature People Route.

Photographer Michel Tilma created and photographed tiny scenes, no more than two centimetres high, in unusual places around the city, before leaving them behind to be discovered. Wander through the streets and alleyways of Leeuwarden’s city centre in search of these tiny Liwwadders — and you’ll uncover places you might otherwise never notice.

There are 53 locations featuring a total of 67 scenes in the centre of Leeuwarden where you can admire the figures and even pose for a photo with them. Can you find them all? Google Maps provides an overview of all locations, and you can choose where to start and finish your route. Prefer a paper map? For €2.00, you can buy a route map with tips at various locations in Leeuwarden. Click here to see where the route maps are available.

Dozens of Miniature People are scattered throughout Leeuwarden. Click on the link above to discover where they are all hidden.
