What happens when machines take over and humanity slowly disappears? In the extraordinary performance SUPERDRUM, you are transported to a world in transition. On stage stands a gigantic drum installation that picks up speed, while actress Jacobien Elffers tries to stay standing in a reality that is tilting.
The Superdrum is a spectacular mechanical sound creature, built from over a hundred second-hand drums. Marketplace finds, thrift store luck, and donations from the public combine to form an impressive instrument. Each drum has its own story and sound.
With this, maker Touki Delphine built a self-playing organism of rhythm, light, and movement. As the installation comes to life, a thrilling dialogue emerges between man and machine. What remains of our story when no one listens anymore? And is this the end – or actually a new beginning?
