The Salt Path is a 2024 drama film directed by Marianne Elliott, starring Gillian Anderson, Jason Isaacs, and James Lance. The film is based on the book of the same name by Raynor Winn and tells the poignant story of Ray and Moth, who unexpectedly lose their home and become homeless. Shortly afterward, they learn that Moth is suffering from a terminal neurodegenerative disease.
Despite these drastic circumstances, Ray and Moth decide to embark on a long walking tour together. For a year, they follow the South West Coast Path, one of England's longest walking routes, from Dorset towards Somerset. During their journey, they are confronted with the consequences of their situation, but at the same time find freedom, connection, and new strength in nature and in each other. The impressive coastal landscapes form an important part of the story.
The screening room at the film house in the Cultuurschuur Wieringerwerf opens at 1:30 PM and the film starts at 2:00 PM. Admission is €6 per person.
