Open tuinen Zonnehoek

Located on Slingerweg in Hippolytushoef, just 5 kilometers from the Afsluitdijk, is the charming private garden "Zonnehoek." At 1750 m², it's one of the first gardens to officially kick off the 2026 open garden season.

In spring, the garden bursts into an explosion of color. Lilacs, viburnum, and early-flowering azaleas immediately draw attention. Swiss primroses, bulbous plants, and various Pulsatilla varieties bloom beneath fruit trees. The cherry tree stands like a gigantic bridal bouquet, while the laburnum (Laburnum) soon after reveals its long, yellow flower clusters. Pots and containers are abundantly filled with annuals.

From June onwards, roses take over, followed by a wide variety of perennials that bloom until the end of September. This keeps the garden surprising and inspiring throughout the season.

Besides enjoying all the greenery, there's more to discover. Perennials are available, as well as glazed and terracotta planters in various sizes, saucers, and other garden accessories. A kind of small garden thrift store for garden enthusiasts.

At "The Smallest Shop in Wieringen," you'll find homemade products from their own garden, such as fruit juices, jam, applesauce, and stewed pears. Everything is grown and processed without chemicals. Every visitor receives a free bag of various seeds.

On the terrace under the grapevines you can enjoy coffee or tea, included in the entrance fee of €4.00.
