Dance with the mysterious Mata Hari, delve into her diary and discover her sad fate as a possible double agent. Fight with 16th-century rebel Grutte Pier against the Dutch or fall prey to his huge sword if you can't say 'bûter brea and griene tsiis' (Frisian meaning: buttered bread and green cheese). Feel like the king or queen of Friesland for a moment with the sparkling gold and silver from the mounds. Or enjoy work by (world) famous artists and slow design by leading designers - tough and durable, with an eye for tradition and craftsmanship. At the Fries Verzetsmuseum, get to know starving children who were housed in the Frisian countryside to recuperate.
Visit one of the many exhibitions, immerse yourself in a surprising workshop or watch an artist in residence. During the school holidays, you can enjoy the Fries Museum to the fullest. For example, an archaeologist collecting potsherds or painting a self-portrait in the style of the Golden Age. Everything is possible. And don't forget to take home a special souvenir. In the museum shop, you will find the nicest gifts with a Frisian touch: felt work by artist Claudy Jongstra and hand-painted trays from Hindeloopen, but also that one special Frisian-language children's book.
