Our B&B and holiday home, suitable for two to three guests, are located in the watersports village of Kollum. We are located right in the heart of this charming village, close to shops and supermarkets. There is even a baker at the corner of our street, 150 metres away. The house has its own entrance and a private south-facing garden. The ground floor offers a cosy seating area, kitchen complete with dishwasher, fridge, gas hob and pots and pans so you can cook your own tasty meals. The living room has a smart tv and a nice workspace. The beautiful bathroom is complete with a walk-in shower, basin and toilet. A staircase leads up to the first floor where you’ll find a spacious bedroom with a comfy boxspring bed. The private garage can accommodate two bicycles and offers a charging station so your electric bicycle battery will be charged and ready for you to ride and explore this beautiful area. Guests even have free access to a sauna!
Our names are Anne and Netty and we have lived in Kollum for several years. We love living here and taking advantage of the area between Wad and Bos. Introducing peope to these beautiful surroundings is also something we love to do, and this is why we created the Waddenhuis. We know how much people who love to cycle, hike and enjoy the panoramic views like to spend time here. Kollum and the local area are also a lovely spot for people looking for peace and quiet.

This is a region that is very popular with cyclists, hikers, birdwatchers and anyone looking for some quiet time away. Located at the edge of the Lauwersmeer National Park and only 25 minutes by car from the Unesco Wadden Sea Conservation Area, this is the ideal recreational setting. The islands of Schiermonnikoog and Ameland are easy to get to from the region, making them perfect for a day trip. For birdwatchers, the Lauwersmeer National Park is a fantastic place to spot a variety of birds, in addition to being a great area for cycling or hiking.
If you’re looking to cool off in the shade of a forest, the Noardlike Fryske Walden (Northern Frisian Woodlands) are within easy reach.
Kollum is situated along one of the routes of the long-distance hiking trails (LAW), fourth leg of the Noardlike Waldenpad. Dokkum is one of the famous eleven Frisian cities (‘Elfsteden’) and is only 15 minutes away by car: a visit to this city is more than worth it!
Kollum is located exactly halfway between Groningen and Leeuwarden, and both cities are only half an hour away by car. If you take the (express) train from Buitenpost (five kilometres away), you can get to each in just 20 minutes. Kollum is what is known in this area as a ‘vlecke’, which is a town with rights to hold a weekly market, yet doesn’t have city rights, and almost became the 12th city in Friesland. Also a town known for its watersports, a connection has been created between the Kollum marina and the town centre, and there is also an open waterway connection to the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Sea. The 'It Paradyske' outdoor swimming pool is only three kilometres away (www.optisport.nl), and the Kollum indoor swimming centre (www.zc-kollum.nl)) is ideal for year-round swimmers. Cinema-lovers will enjoy a night out at the charming Kollum filmhouse, the ‘Tuschinski of the North’. To book tickets and see the schedule, visit www.filmhuiskollum.nl.
