'Ollediek' is locatd on a former seadyke in Houwerzijl, one of the oldest villages of the former peninsula of the Marne.
The nights here are still really dark with often a beautiful starry sky. The rising and setting of the sun and moon occur in many shades.Â
Enjoy 'Ollediek' in a varied landscape with Wierden (mounds), Wad and Water in NW Groningen near the border with Friesland. Ollediek is situated amongst 5 nature reserves: Reitdiepdal, Middag Humsterlnad, Lauwersmeer, Wadden Sea, Schiermonnikoog.Â
Go walking, cycling, skating or canoeing in an ancient cultural landscape with salt marsh walls, mounds, winding roads and waterways. Be surprised by the salty-sweet wadden region and come and get a breath of fresh air along the Wadden Sea, walk on the mudflats, fall dry on a sandbank, spot birds, canoe or sail on the Lsauwersmeer and the Waddensea. In the immediate viccinity, the pittoresque villages, borgen and medieval churches are a feast for the eyes and regularly the stage for cultural activities. Throughout the year there are many exhibitions, performances and events for young and old. The Burgundian student city of Groningen and the fortified city of Dokkum can be reached in half an hour by car. The ferry to Schiermonnikoog departs within cycling distance.Â
