Onze Lieve Vrouw Onbevlekt Ontvangenkerk (O.L.V.O.O.-kerk)
Den Helder
Former Catholic church in the Visbuurt, now in private use
Take a look
The OLVOO Church stands at the head of Nieuwstraat in the Visbuurt neighborhood. This former church was the second Catholic church in Den Helder, after the Petrus en Pauluskerk (St. Peter and Paul Church).
Church in the working-class neighborhood
The building is located in the heart of the neighborhood and played a central role in daily life for a long time. In 1990, its religious use ceased. Afterward, the building was temporarily repurposed.
From house of worship to home
The church on Jan in 't Veltstraat is now privately occupied. Although no longer open to the public, it remains a recognizable building in the streetscape and a tangible reminder of the neighborhood's Catholic history.
