The city center of Den Helder has a sound you rarely hear anymore. Since 1975, volunteers have been providing a barrel organ experience just like the old days. On a wooden, three-wheeled cart and operated entirely by hand: the Harmonica barrel organ is nostalgia in motion.

Tradition that keeps on going

With its 90 keys, this authentic organ plays familiar melodies from the past. The Helderse Draaiorgelvrienden foundation aims to keep Dutch barrel organ culture alive. And they're succeeding. Every Saturday, you can hear their music among shoppers.

Old-fashioned and loved

The Harmonica barrel organ is a fixture in Den Helder. It draws young and old with its recognizable sounds and warm atmosphere. Children stop, elders smile, and the square suddenly takes on a vibrant atmosphere.

Come listen

You'll find the organ playing in the city center on Saturdays. Stop by, listen in, or chat with the people behind the music. They're happy to tell you more about the barrel organ and their passion for the craft.
