Bartlehiem (Bartlehiem)

Bartlehiem is a tiny village north of Leeuwarden in the municipality of Tietjerksteradeel.

The village originally got its name from the monastery 'Bethlehem' that once stood here.

In the 20th century, the village became best known thanks to the Eleven Cities skating tour. Because the skaters skate twice under the wooden bridge at Bartlehiem, this hamlet makes the perfect place to encourage or film skaters.

Are you coming by boat? Then Bartlehiem is easily accessible, it is located on the Northern Eleven Cities Route. Here you can also enjoy canoeing or supping.

And by bike you can make beautiful routes around Bartlehiem, just cross at the ferry in Wyns.
