The Wieringer Skuutje WR60, built in 1840, is the oldest sailing fishing vessel in the Netherlands and owned by the Skuutje WR60 Foundation. The Skuutje is registered as a sailing monument in the Dutch Sailing Heritage Register (RVEN). The aim of the foundation is to preserve the ship for the future. This is achieved by a group of volunteers, the “Reilen en Sailen” working group, who maintain the ship but, above all, sail the ship whenever possible. From its home port of Den Oever, the Skuutje sails weekly on the Wadden Sea and the ports of the IJsselmeer and Markermeer are visited for many festivities.
