Since 1996, Museum Lichtschip Texel has been the absolute eye-catcher in Museum Harbour Willemsoord in Den Helder. The beautifully restored ship is moored a stone's throw from the slipway where it was launched in 1951. For forty years, the lightship served as a reliable beacon at sea off the Dutch coast. Today, the ship is a shining centerpiece in a remarkable museum ship collection.
The vessel, with an interesting history, has been restored with great care and love by volunteers and has thereby been preserved as maritime heritage for the future.
