Den Helder

Discover the story of Den Helder, from Wadden Island to naval port

Take a look

How did Den Helder become the city it is today? At the Helders Museum, you'll see history come to life, filled with struggle, pride, and the stories of ordinary residents.

Stories of the city

The exhibition "Den Helder Wad a City!" takes you on a journey through the highs and lows. Learn about crafts, war, and reconstruction. Hear the story of the English soldier James and his surprising connection to Den Helder.

Unique place in the city

The museum is located in the former bandstand of the former lyceum, in Timorpark. A beautiful example of post-war architecture by Wieger Bruin. Unique and atmospheric.

Small museum, big story

The museum is wheelchair accessible and has a low threshold. Admission is only three euros. After your visit, relax in the teahouse next to the exhibition.
