Stichting Instandhouding Motorreddingboot 'Dorus Rijkers'

Den helder

Experience maritime history aboard a 1923 lifeboat.

Take a look

The motor lifeboat 'Dorus Rijkers' is moored in the museum harbor of Willemsoord. Built in 1923 and named after the Netherlands' most famous lifesaver, the foundation, with a small team of volunteers, is working to preserve and restore this historic vessel.

Step aboard a legend

The Dorus Rijkers is part of the Helder Historical Lifeboat Collective. Along with the "De Zeemanspot" and "Javazee," this ship tells the story of rescue work at sea. The volunteers have years of experience and a passion for maritime technology and history.

Volunteers with a heart for rescue stories

A team of nine works hard every day on the ship. Not for profit, but for preservation. They work passionately on restoration and presentation, so everyone can continue to admire this maritime treasure.
