The Reformed church is located on a relatively high mound along the Slachtedijk, originally dedicated to Saint Gertrude. It is a national monument.

The church on the Slachtedijk, originally dedicated to Saint Gertrude, has a nave from the 12th century. In the late 15th century, the church underwent significant changes. The elevated and enlarged single-aisled church was equipped with a new roof, pointed-arch windows, a new three-sided closed choir with buttresses, and a tower. In the tower hang two bells (1621 and 1631) by Hans Falck. In 1790, the tower was provided with a wooden structure with a short, constricted spire.
On July 4, 1911, a memorial stone was placed in the south facade in honor of Ulbe Piers Draisma (1785-1830) on the occasion of the centenary of the Achlum Insurance Company. The church contains a burial vault of the Draisma family.
The interior is covered by a wooden vaulted ceiling. The pulpit and the gentlemen's benches date back to the 17th century. The organ, built in 1854, is by L. van Dam and Son.
