De Waddenzee is een UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie en het startpunt van het gebied bevindt zich in Den Helder. Als markering wordt de "NAP-paal" gebruikt om het begin van de Waddenzee aan te geven. De paal staat aan het Marsdiep, de zeestraat tussen Den Helder en Texel. Care & dairy farm Tesselaar is situated in Huisduinen. It's the only dairy farm in the township of Den Helder. The Tesselaar family started the farm in 2012. They own 40 milch cows and they make their own yoghurt and 10 different kinds of cheese! You can buy this and other products from their garden at the farmshop. But you can also visit their Alpaca's and garden.
The Helders museum is located in the old music dome of the former lyceum on Timorlaan. Today this dome is also known as the Paviljoen van Toen, which borders the Timor Park in Den Helder.
