Seasonal information: De vogels broeden in een deel van dit gebied tussen 15 maart en 15 juli. Volgens de Wet Natuurbescherming hebben mensen in deze periode geen toegang tot broedgebieden.
Door de Makkumersúdwaard loopt een wandelroute, die deels is afgesloten tijdens het broedseizoen. Je kunt in die periode geen rondje lopen.

Along the shore of Lake IJsselmeer there are three nature reserves on the sandflats outside the dykes. When Lake IJsselmeer was still the Zuiderzee, these coastal sandflats were flooded by the tides.
