This route is an initiative by the Frisian environmental federation, Friese Milieu Federatie, which works to protect the environment of the region, and Eetbaar Fryslân, an organisation that promotes the consumption of local sustainably grown food.
De kassen van Jochum de Boer staan op nog geen kilometer afstand van de Waddenzee. Het zijn ‘koude kassen’, wat betekent dat er geen kunstmatig licht en kunstmatige verwarming aanwezig is. Het aanbod van Jochum de Boer is breed en varieert per seizoen.
Lyts Ropta is een biologisch akkerbouwbedrijf in het noorden van Friesland waar je verse groentes kunt kopen en een vakantiehuisje kunt huren.
Hier bevindt zich het familiebedrijf van Jeljer en Sijke Wynia. Ze fokken schapen en zoogkoeien en hun dieren lopen zoveel mogelijk in de wei.
Ambachtelijk brood met liefde en respect gemaakt. Ieder weekend bakt Mevrouw de Molenaar aan de Elfstedenroute ambachtelijk brood op bestelling. In een samenspel tussen molen en wind maalt zij met zingende stenen het lokale graan.
Pizzeria Pingjum werkt zoveel mogelijk met biologische producten uit de omgeving. De vis is wild, de schelpen komen van het Wad, de groentes en zuivel zijn biologisch en het vlees is van eigen slacht. Telefonisch reserveren is noodzakelijk op 0517-789164.
