Wieringen was vroeger een eiland in de Zuiderzee. Het gebied is door de Afsluitdijk verbonden met Friesland en hoort bij de Noord-Hollandse Waddenkust. Omringt door water ligt het voormalige eiland aan het Amstelmeer, IJselmeer en het Werelderfgoed Waddenzee. Eigenlijk is Wieringen een stevige grote berg. Een rots van stuwwallen, door de zee gevormd. En al is Wieringen, dat ontstond in de ijstijd, geen eiland meer: de Wieringers voelen zich nog steeds eilanders. Niet voor niets ben je niet in Wieringen maar óp Wieringen.
Deze fietsroute neemt je mee het landschap in en langs de lekkerste waddenproducten in het oostelijk deel van Wieringen.

Chocolaterie Sjokoolaatje is een winkel vol delicatessen van Wieringen en de kop van Noord- Holland. Denk aan zelfgemaakte jam, kaas uit Noord-Holland en natuurlijk chocolade.
De enige bakker op Wieringen, die gelukkig de Jodenkoeken nog steeds onveranderd bakt. Het is een ode aan Edwin Bellis die in 2022 overleed, dat de Helderse bakker het op traditionele wijze de enige en echt Wieringen Jodenkoek bakt.

The farm of Jant Lont is an original Wieringer farm dating from 1854, is showing live and working on Wieringen. Special is the tilewall with bible exposures. The farm has been renovated in 2004-2005 and refurbished. It has a lot of information.

Corn mill De Hoop was probably built around 1654. Since 2015, the mill has been milling again and runs weekly thanks to the efforts of volunteers.

De Voorstraat was ooit een drukke en goed gevarieerde winkelstraat er waren bakkers, slagers en groenteboeren en kruidenierswinkels. Nu is alleen de slager er nog, die gelukkig, om toch te zorgen voor aanbod in de straat wat groente en zuivel verkoopt.
Palingrokerij Kay - Den Oever is a mobile eel smokehouse with a 5-star status. The eel comes from our own catch, IJsselmeer or even from Ireland. For the gourmets there is also smoked salmon and mackerel. During the season, own eel is caught on the Wadden Sea, you can see the traps when you look out to sea at the Monument!
