Schiermonnikoog is the smallest municipality in the Netherlands, with only one village where less than 1,000 people live. The island is rich in landscapes: dunes, beach, forests, polders and mud flats. You can find half of all the plants and flowers found in the Netherlands here. More than 300 bird species have also been spotted here. No wonder Schiermonnikoog has been declared one of the twenty National Parks in the Netherlands, which together give a picture of the diversity of landscapes in the Netherlands.
